LANCASHIRE County Cricket Club’s striking new £15 million conference and events venue, The Point, has now reached a key milestone in its construction — completion of its highest point, the roof
Work started on the development last April and despite challenging weather conditions over the winter, construction company Morgan Ashurst is still on track to complete on time.
To mark the latest milestone, Lancashire’s commercial director Geoff Durbin, vice-chairman Geoffrey Shindler OBE, head coach Peter Moores and Morgan Ashurst’s senior contracts manager Tony McCabe were in attendance at the official ‘topping out’ ceremony.
Geoff Durbin said: “Standing on the top of The Point looking across the city of Manchester, it’s hard to believe that it was only ten months since we were at ground level conducting the turf cutting ceremony.
“Now the main structure is complete our team have already started the planning for the official opening in June.”
Once completed, The Point will be one of the largest purpose-built facilities in the country, accommodating a conference or formal dinner for 1,000 people.
The Point conference and events venue is a £12 million development, and is part of phase one at the Old Trafford cricket ground.
