Phoenix at the double
Date published: 15 March 2010
ICE HOCKEY: Manchester Phoenix produced two fine performances to defeat Sheffield Scimitars and Bracknell Bees.
Their 4-1 and 7-3 victories over the Scimitars and Bees were built on toughness, clinical finishing and tenacity.
Goals from Jaakko Hagelberg (2), Adam Walker and Robert Lachowicz gave Phoenix victory over a physical Scimitars outfit, the Manchester team matching their opponents for aggression.
And, in last night’s seven-goal romp, the men on target were Tony Hand, Andre Payette, Iain Bowie, Lachowicz (2) and Hagelberg (2).
After winning four games in a row, Phoenix are up to third in the English Premier League.
