Rooney raring to go
Date published: 08 June 2010
WAYNE Rooney can’t wait for the World Cup to begin.
Though Rooney’s temper was a major topic during the 3–0 practice match victory against the Platinum Stars, England’s star player is focused purely on beating the United States in the group ‘C’ opener on Saturday.
“I just can’t wait now,’ he said. “The sooner it comes, the better.”
Rooney has been warned he needs to keep his emotions in check or face being sent off.
The referee in yesterday’s match claimed he was insulted by Rooney — who apologised afterwards — and warned him that a repeat during a World Cup match would result in a red card.
