THE CHRONICLE’S scoop on Paul Scholes found its way into virtually every national daily this morning.
Sports reporter Chris Lynham interviewed the Manchester United star at the opening of Chadderton Park FC’s new changing rooms.
The 35-year-old Athletic fan revealed the reasons why he turned down the chance to make a dramatic comeback for England at the World Cup, concluding that the ’phone call from manager Fabio Capello came too late and that he didn’t want to take the place of another player who had contributed to the qualifying campaign.
