Warren cuts ‘Razor’ fight

Boxing: WELTERWEIGHT star Ronnie ‘The Razor’ Heffron has been dealt a blow in his bid to return to the ring.

Heffron (19), was meant to be back in action on the undercard of the Michael Jennings versus John O’Donnell Three Lions show on July 3.

But the eagerly-anticipated event, which was to be hosted by Preston Guild Hall, is now off.

Promoter Frank Warren pulled the plug after O’Donnell suffered a back injury.

Heffron didn’t know who he was due to fight but had been putting in the hard yards at Anthony Farnell’s set-up in Manchester.

Heffron’s dad Tommy said: “Ronnie is gutted because he has been training so well for this fight.

“He hasn’t had a bout since he beat Karl Taylor two months ago.

“He might not fight until September. If that’s the case, the Taylor bout will feel like a lifetime ago for Ronnie.”

Warren said: “We are very disappointed for the fans, Michael Jennings and the rest of the boxers on the show.

“We will reschedule the bout when O’Donnell is fit.”
