Newton hangs up his bike clips

CYCLIST Chris Newton has decided to bring his glittering career to a close.

Endurance specialist Newton (34), based in Royton, is taking up a coaching role with the Great Britain side’s new Olympic Academy.

He won 13 medals at World, Olympic and Commonwealth level.
