ROYTON teenager Jessica Fullalove continues to be a splashing success after being chosen to swim for England.

Jessica’s fantastic performance in the National Championship, in which she recorded the second fastest time in the country this year for her age group in 100 metre backstroke, caught the eye.

It was enough to clinch a place on the ASA England Talent Programme, which will see her train at the University of Loughborough and work alongside the national squad in Sunderland prior to an intensive regime in Cyprus in Easter.

The real deal comes shortly after that, when Jessica and her England team-mates will compete against Canada.

Jessica (14), who attends Oldham Hulme Grammar Schools, and swims for Oldham Seals and City of Manchester Aquatics, said: “I have received tons of support from across the region and I want to thank everyone.

“I am really looking forward to the training and competing for England.

“In the future, my goal is to swim in the Olympics.”

Joe Knighton, head of PE at the school, said: “We are all very proud of Jessica here at Hulme.

“She has been a passionate and dedicated swimmer since her arrival in Year Seven. She has clear goals and is determined to represent her country - hopefully as a future Olympian.”
