Captain Carlos is City’s inspiration

CAPTAIN Marvel Carlos Tevez set Manchester City on their way to an important victory at Wigan yesterday.
The Argentinian’s first half strike and a second-half goal from Yaya Toure eased City to a win which delighted boss Roberto Mancini, who believes he is reaping the benefit of making Tevez skipper.
Tevez pounced on a back–header by Mohamed Diame to lob City in front in the 43rd minute and then set up Toure's second after Maynor Figueroa made a hash of a clearance.
Wigan offered little in response with Franco Di Santo bringing the only save of note out of City ’keeper Joe Hart.
For Wigan boss Roberto Martinez it was another case of defensive blunders costing his side dear.
Martinez believed City midfielder Nigel de Jong was fortunate to stay on the pitch after two clattering challenges, but he refused to seek any other excuses.
ROBERTO Mancini has told Shay Given he can leave the club in January, but demanded he remains committed until the transfer window reopens.
Mancini admitted he understood the concerns of Given, who said last week he was frustrated by his lack of first–team opportunities.
