Thomas Stubbs: work starts tomorrow
BOXING: TOMMY Stubbs gets his Commonwealth Games adventure under way tomorrow against a familiar face.
The Northside star (20) fights Andrew Selby of Wales - his sparring partner at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
Victory would see Chadderton boxer Stubbs take on Pakistan’s Haroon Khan, brother of WBA World light welterweight champion, Amir.
Stubbs, the three-time ABA champion, moved up to the 52kg category after struggling to make the weight for the 49kg division.
He and 11 team-mates in the England squad trained in Thailand in a bid to acclimatise to the sweltering conditions awaiting them in Delhi.
