I AM delighted to see Micah Richards back in the senior England squad. He needs to take this chance and establish himself as a regular fixture.

Luckily for Micah, right-back is one of those problem positions for England at the moment, especially with Glen Johnson suffering from injuries and loss of form, so this is a golden opportunity.

It is an honour and privilege to represent your country, and I am sure he will relish his return to the Three Lions set-up.

Any footballer who doesn’t feel immense pride when they pull on the jersey should not be involved in football.

CITY’S youth side will face their Athletic counterparts in the third round of the FA Youth Cup, should Athletic beat Sheffield Wednesday tonight. I hope it happens, it would be an interesting tie.
I remember playing for Athletic’s youth team against City back in 1966, when I was 17-years-old.

It took place at Maine Road and we were beaten 4-1, but it was a brilliant experience to play at such a famous old ground as a teenager.

AS for Paul Dickov’s first team, their 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town was a fantastic result, especially when you consider the Terriers have been flying of late.
I am not surprised to see Dicky doing such a good job.

I think players respect the fact that he is a genuinely honest guy — what you see is what you get. He is firm, but fair.

The enthusiasm he possesses is contagious, which is why he gets 100-per-cent from his players.

There are certain things a manager cannot control once his men cross that white line.

But the things within his power, such as preparation and training, are usually a good indication of a manager’s abilities, and Dicky has made a great start.
