Rooney’s return like a new start, says Fergie

SIR Alex Ferguson wants Wayne Rooney to treat his return to the Manchester United starting line–up against Rangers in the Champions League tonight just like his first game of the season.
After a brief break in Dubai, another week’s intensive conditioning work in Oregon and training at United’s Carrington training ground, the 25–year–old is ready to face Rangers and show the world his talent is all still there.
“Absolutely,” agreed Ferguson, when asked if Rooney should regard it as a fresh start. “There is no question about that.
“His fitness is good and maybe it will take two or three games, but they will help to get him back as quickly as we can.”
Rooney received a mixed reception as a second–half substitute against Wigan at Old Trafford on Saturday.
“I would be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about the reaction from the fans,” said Rooney.
