Chris fires Reds salvo

CHRIS Smalling does not believe Manchester United have any reason to fear Arsenal on Monday.

The Barclays Premier League's top two meet at Old Trafford knowing a place at the top of the table is the prize on offer for the winner.

Although they have lost three times on home soil this season, Arsenal have been impressive on their travels, winning five on the trot, including matches at Manchester City, Everton and Aston Villa, all places where United have been held to draws.

That record ensures the Red Devils will be on their guard.

But as they have only failed to take maximum points on home soil once this term – when West Brom battled back from two goals down – Smalling feels the visitors are the ones who should be concerned.

"We will have 70,000 fans cheering us on. They should be intimidated more than we are."

Smalling could find himself being called upon to face the Gunners should Rio Ferdinand not recover from the tight hamstring which forced him out of the action five minutes into the second half of Tuesday's Champions League draw with Valencia.
