BOXING: SHINNY Bayaar puts his British flyweight title on the line again tonight, against unbeaten Paul Edwards in Belfast.

Kings Hall hosts the televised bout, which is chief support to headline fight Martin Lindsay v John Simpson.

Bayaar’s first defence of his title saw him draw with Ashley Sexton in May, a fight the 32-year-old Tara boxer was controlling until a clash of heads in the ninth round forced him to hang on.

Trainer Jack Doughty had to work overtime to stem the flow of blood, which seemed to inspire Sexton to raise his game for what proved to be a grandstand finish.

The 22-year-old pushed Bayaar (33) to the limit, but scorecards of 116-112, 112-116 and 114-114 sealed a draw, an outcome the Mongolian was more than happy to accept after readily admitting afterwards that the injury ruined his strategy.

Scouser Edwards (24) has won all seven of his professional bouts, mustering one knockout, against Itsko Veselinov at Leigh Indoor Sports Centre.

Last time out he enjoyed a points victory at the expense of Anwar Alfadli, at Huddersfield Leisure Centre.

Edwards claims to have watched footage of Bayaar against Sexton every day in order to gain an edge.

In the main fight of the night, current British featherweight champion Lindsay, who has won 17 out of 17 in his professional career so far, will be roared on by his home town crowd.
