Thunder are in seventh heaven

NETBALL:
NORTHERN Thunder made it seven wins out of seven in the Fiat Superleague with a 69-36 victory at Team Northumbria.
The hosts recruited a new shooter in a bid to add to their goal tally — Namibia’s Jatjinda “Toetsie” Kambatuku is her country’s first representative in an overseas league competition.
But it was Thunder who excelled in the shooting department.
Captain Karen Greig dropped 96-per-cent of her shots — 42 of the 44 — Charley Beenham missed only one (seven from eight), Kathryn Turner netted all three of her attempts and Lynsey Armitage bagged 17 from 21.
Thunder were able to give their entire squad a run out, which meant a first Superleague appearance for Rachel Taylor.
“It was good to try different combinations,” said Thunder coach Suzy Chapman.
“We played some good netball and it gave us the opportunity to work on things for our match at home to Leeds tomorrow.”
