HOW City made it to the cup final:
Third round - Leicester 2, City 2: With former City manager Sven–Goran Eriksson at the helm, Leicester provided a tough test, but goals from James Milner and Carlos Tevez earned them a replay.
Third–round replay – City 4, Leicester 2: Fielding the most expensive side ever to play in the FA Cup at a cost of £162million, the home side were not at their best but they showed enough of their quality to come through. First–half goals from Tevez, Patrick Vieira and Adam Johnson and then Aleksandar Kolarov's late strike ensured Leicester could not build on Paul Gallagher's early penalty and Lloyd Dyer's second–half goal.
Fourth round - Notts County 1, City 1: Edin Dzeko's first goal in a City shirt, a fine strike in the 79th minute, cancelled out Neal Bishop's glancing header.
Fourth–round replay - City 5, Notts County 0: Vieira headed in twice before Tevez, Dzeko and Micah Richards scored in the final 10 minutes.
Fifth round – City 3, Aston Villa 0: City cruised into the last eight with goals from Yaya Toure, Mario Balotelli and David Silva.
Quarter–final – City 1, Reading 0: City had to wait until the 75th minute to see off the spirited Championship side. A towering header from Richards set up a semi–final derby against Manchester United.
Semi–final – City 1, Manchester United 0: A goal from Yaya Toure seven minutes into the second half decided a typically-tight derby at Wembley in which Paul Scholes was sent off for his reckless challenge on Pablo Zabaleta.
