I didn’t know if I was in Stockport or on Saturn!

City Kit boss Les on that famous victory...
I AM so full of pride after seeing Manchester City lift the FA Cup on Saturday.

Yaya Toure’s 74th-minute winner sealed our first major piece of silverware in 35 years.

And it also had special personal significance for myself, after finally reaching my first cup final following more than 40 years in the game.

It is fantastic to be part of this new chapter in City’s history.

I can tell you the players feel the same way, because they are aware of the club’s recent track record and just how important silverware is to the supporters.

The fans were absolutely unbelievable. They deserve this for standing by the club over the years.

You could see how happy they were at the final whistle.

They weren’t the only ones — a fair few celebratory beverages and several hours later, myself and a few of the lads in the kit department finally got some shut-eye . . . at the club’s training ground.

I was always going to have a few drinks if we won. By the time we got back up north on the train I didn’t know if we were in Stockport or on Saturn!

I ended up sleeping on a beanbag at Carrington. You can imagine how I felt in the morning.

Despite my delicate disposition and hazy recollection of the wee hours, I still clearly recollect the moment our dream came true.

I got my hands on the cup when the players brought it back to the dressing room.

It was great celebrating with them on the pitch too, even though the champagne bottle was empty when I grabbed it!

We were all buzzing, singing and dancing after walking down the tunnel. It will live long in the memory.

I have received dozens of text messages from well-wishers, many of which I haven’t had the chance to reply to yet.

I know people will have been watching the match back home and rooting for us.

Now the big challenge facing us is to go and win more cups, season after season. The hunger and determination is there.

After the investment made by the owners since their arrival three years ago, no one will be resting on their laurels at City just because we have got one cup.

But we will savour the moment first and worry about all that when this one has sunk in!
