CRICKET
Lancashire take on rivals Yorkshire Carnegie in the Friends Life t20 on Friday (5.40pm) — but the team’s traditional red shirts will be missing.
Instead, to raise awareness for LCCC’s official charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support, the players will be wearing special edition green tops and caps.
The club are encouraging the 10,000-strong crowd to follow suit and sport green garments.
Volunteers will be on hand for a bucket collection around the ground, before match-worn shirts are auctioned off at a later date.
Captain Glen Chapple said: “We’re proud to be wearing Macmillan colours for the biggest game at Old Trafford this season. The players are happy to raise awareness for a charity which does such important work in the North West and we can’t wait to see Old Trafford turn green for the occasion!”
