SWIMMING: OLDHAM duo Jessica Lloyd and Jessica Fullalove inspired Great Britain to victory in the European Junior Championships.
Other nations were left trailing in the medals table thanks in no small part to the talented pair, who were members of the 4x100-metre individual medley relay team which clinched gold.
Lloyd also took bronze in 100m freestyle and silver in 4x100m relay and mum Ann said: “We are all so proud of Jessica and she is over the moon.”
Fullalove’s mum Suzanne was equally proud when her daughter added a silver to her collection in 100m backstroke.
“The girls have done brilliantly to go over there and perform so well,” she said.
The highlight of the tournament was undoubtedly the gold-winning relay race.
Fullalove put in a strong first 100m before Marie O’Connor swam a fine breaststroke leg to put the Brits in front.
Georgia Barton continued the pace and handed over to Lloyd, who produced a storming freestyle display, stopping the clock at four minutes 09.34 seconds — more than a second ahead of silver medalists Russia.
“It is such a rush,” said Fullalove.
Lloyd added: “I cannot explain how I feel. I am really happy with the girls, we all stepped it up and I am so proud.”
