OLDHAM racer Alex Walker aims to narrow the gap at the top of the InterSteps Championship this weekend at Donington Park.

Rounds nine, 10 and 11 give the 16-year-old Fortec Motorsport driver the opportunity to chase down team-mate Jake Dennis, who holds a two-point lead.

Last time out, at Rockingham, a gearbox problem saw Walker miss the first race, but he hit back to clinch lights-to-flag victories in the two subsequent rounds.

“Everything is heading in the right direction from a championship point of view and I’ve been doing everything I can since Rockingham to make sure my development continues through to Donington,” said Walker.

“I had the gearbox problem at Rockingham which was out of my hands, but that’s motorsport and we limited the damage by winning the other two races, so we have every reason to remain upbeat.

“I’m just two points behind in the championship now and the Fortec guys are doing a mega job, so we’ll keep pushing and hopefully we can get on the top step of the podium again.”

This weekend’s event is in support of the UK round of the World Touring Car Championship.
