Corinthians pull out of Tevez deal
Date published: 20 July 2011
Carlos Tevez's proposed £40million move from Manchester City to Brazilian outfit Corinthians has collapsed.
City thought a deal had been agreed for their skipper to get his wish and leave the club, allowing him to go back to South America and be closer to his wife Vanesa and two young daughters.
Manager Roberto Mancini thought Tevez was on his way, with the majority of the striker's team–mates of the same opinion.
With the Brazilian transfer window looming, Corinthians dropped the bombshell, officially announcing the “impossibility of hiring the Argentine striker Carlos Tevez."
Corinthians are expected to put a deal in place during the January transfer window, even though Tevez wanted to have left the Blues by then.
The number of clubs who can afford him is slim, with only Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan realistic options.
