IT promises to be a special occasion at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow night when Manchester City entertain Napoli in our first-ever Uefa Champions League match.
I am sure the fans will be up for it and they are bound to generate a special atmosphere. Hopefully, we can get off to a winning start.
The players have to wear different training kits for European games so myself and the rest of the kit team have been kept busy making the preparations.
Different letters, numbers and badges are a requirement for these fixtures.
OUR 3-0 win over Wigan Athletic in the Barclays Premier League demonstrated more than ever just how strong our squad has become.
Edin Dzeko has been in sensational form this term but, with one eye on the Napoli game, we were able to rest him.
He was joined on the bench by Samir Nasri, who broke a finger while on international duty with France.
He is donning a protective cast just to be on the safe side, but it doesn’t seem to be anything to worry about, and he came on in the second half.
Sergio Aguero rightly gets the headlines for his superb hat-trick, but it has to be said that David Silva was incredible.
David is a popular lad at the club, and he is a lovely character. He is quiet and gets on with the job, and you can tell the rest of the lads hold him in the highest esteem.
It is no secret that I am one of his biggest fans — his touch, vision and passing can win any game.
Carlos Tevez returned to the starting line-up and missed a penalty, although to be fair to the Argentinian, Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi was moving on his line several seconds before Carlos struck the ball.
It is becoming a common theme in football now and nothing will change until referees clamp down on it.
Obviously, it was not too important in this particular match because we won it comfortably, but on another day and in a tighter game it is the sort of thing that can cost a team a cup or title.
WE were top of the table for a few hours until our neighbours United thumped Bolton 5-0.
Wayne Rooney, who scored a hat-trick, is a fantastic player and he looks back to his best.
The derby at Old Trafford next month is going to be intriguing. It could go either way — but I don’t think our lads will go there with any fear.
