KEITH McHUGH’S 20 to follow
BINOCULAR (trained by Nicky Henderson): The 2010 Champion Hurdler was never really right last term, but is said to be buzzing at present.
Has huge talent and could go in at a nice price before the public regain their faith in him.
CAPTAIN CHRIS (Philip Hobbs): Already a top-class chaser, having won last season’s Arkle, and would have won at Exeter on his reappearance but for unseating jockey Richard Johnson at the last fence.
Expect him to hold his own in top company this season.
COURT IN MOTION (Emma Lavelle): A very useful staying novice hurdler, Court In Motion promises to be even better over fences this term.
Particularly effective on soft ground.
DARLAN (Nicky Henderson): A bright prospect for his powerful stable, Darlan hosed up by 27 lengths in a Haydock bumper in April.
Goes hurdling with a big reputation.
FINGAL BAY (Philip Hobbs): Unbeaten in a bumper and Grade Two novices’ hurdle, this powerful gelding is heading for the top.
Likely to reappear at Cheltenham later this week.
JETNOVA (Alan King): Impressed me with his attitude and toughness over hurdles and could be even better when sent chasing this winter.
KING’S GRACE (Donald McCain): Sidelined by a foot abscess after winning a Bangor bumper, this highly-regarded sort embarks on a novice hurdling campaign and could go a long way.
MINELLA CLASS (Nicky Henderson): Impressed throughout his novice hurdling campaign, but chasing was always going to be his game and he can prove the point this season.
MONO MAN (Nicky Henderson): Won both his bumpers at Hereford and Ascot and, as a son of Old Vic, is likely to need a staying test over hurdles.
Said to jump like an old hand.
MON PARRAIN (Paul Nicholls): Sluiced up at Sandown before being edged out in the valuable two-mile five-furlong chase over the big Aintree fences in April.
As good as jumper as you could wish to see.
MONTBAZON (Alan King): Won a valuable bumper at Doncaster before finishing second at Aintree.
Highly regarded by his trainer, he should take high rank as a novice hurdler.
NOTUS DE LA TOUR (David Pipe): Useful over hurdles, this fellow could be even better as a steeplechaser judged on his winning debut at Carlisle.
A possible Arkle Chase contender.
OSCARGO (Paul Nicholls): A Chepstow winner as a novice hurdler, this is a fine steeplechaser in the making.
Nicholls already has the four-miler at the Cheltenham Festival in his sights.
PHIDIPPIDES (Evan Williams): Young chaser who came down when going well on his seasonal reappearance at Wetherby.
Will win nice races if nonetheworse for that fall.
PRINCE OF PIRATES (Nicky Henderson): Ran only twice as a novice hurdle, winning at Cheltenham and finishing well beaten at Punchestown.
Goes handicap hurdling and is an unexposed type who can land a big pot.
RAYA STAR (Alan King): Jumping errors prevented this nice sort from reaching his potential as a novice hurdler, but he looked good when winning at Wetherby on his reappearance. More to come.
ROCK ON RUBY (Paul Nicholls): Ran a series of good races in top novice hurdles last season and is likely to stay over timber this winter. Can collect a big handicap hurdle.
THE GIANT BOLSTER (David Bridgwater): Sloppy jumping hindered his novice chasing campaign, but this horse is very useful when getting it right.
Well handicapped, he is a live contender for the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham.
TORNADO BOB (Donald McCain): A progressive novice hurdler last season, the son of Bob Back goes jumping this winter and could be a real moneyspinner. Likes cut in the ground.
WYMOTT (Donald McCain): Won his first three novice chasers before putting in a lacklustre run in the RSA at Cheltenham.
Starts the season on a workable handicap mark and could land a nice prize.
