SPORTS BETTING: SO, it looks as though the Special One is returning to English football.
Sources close to Jose Mourinho say he will be leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season and that he wants a job with an English Premier League club.
So, who will land the Portuguese with the modest approach?
Well, if recent money is anything to go by, he is on his way back to Chelsea – which is bad news for current incumbent Andre Villas-Boas.
The club’s owner Roman Abramovich is said to have made up with Mourinho following their acrimonious parting of the ways.
And those in the know obviously think Mourinho is returning to Chelsea judging on the support which has seen his odds slashed from 12-1 to 4s.
But Mourinho is also a possibility to join one of the Manchester giants, reckon the bookies.
He is only 9-2 to take over from Roberto Mancini at City and 11-2 to succeed Fergie at Old Trafford.
Mourinho is 8-1 to become the new England boss, 12-1 for the Arsenal and Portugul posts and 14s for the hot seat at Liverpool and Spurs.
Whatever happens, someone’s nose is going to be put out of joint and it won’t be Mourinho’s!
SIX Nations rugby union returns this weekend and I hope the fare is better than that in a turgid World Cup. The most entertaining side there were Wales, who can be backed at 3-1.
I reckon that’s pretty fair for an improving team and select them to finish ahead of France (13-8), Ireland (5-1), England (9-2), Scotland (25-1) and Italy (200-1) in that order.
ENGLAND’S batsmen were pathetic against top-class spin in the second innings of the second Test defeat to Pakistan and it’s hard to see how things are going to get much better in the third and final match between the teams in Dubai, starting on Friday.
Pakistan are 7-4 to make it 3-0 and that looks a good price. It hurts, but all I can say is: Get on.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Wales to win 6 Nations, 3-1 (Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, Sporting Bet); Pakistan to win third Test, 7-4 (totesport, Betfred).
