MELBOURNE stages the first Formula One Grand Prix of the new season on Sunday and, as in the last two years, most of the talk is about the likely dominance of Sebastian Vettel.
After claiming the world crown in 2010 and 2011, he is the man they all have to beat and, not surprisingly, he is only 11-10 to come out on top.
With potential car problems — though that rarely seems to apply to Red Bull — and injury to take into account, that’s not the greatest price I have seen, but alternatives are thin on the ground.
Lewis Hamilton is the most aggressive driver out there and, if everything were to go right, could be a threat at 6-1. Then it’s 8-1 Fernando Alonso, 17-2 Jenson Button (pictured, right) and 16-1 Mark Webber.
THE favourites in the Premier League title race have flip-flopped following last weekend’s results which saw Manchester United beat West Brom 2-0 and City lose 1-0 at Swansea.
United, recommended here a few weeks ago at 5-2, are down to 8-13, with City out to 6-4.
WALES, our selection at 3-1 to win Rugby Union’s 6 Nations Championship, are virtually home and hosed following England’s defeat of France in Paris.
With the French visiting the Millennium Stadium on Saturday, it would take a defeat of ghastly proportions to rob them of the title.
They are a best price 50-1 ON to prevail and 4-9 to beat the French.
England are the only team with a mathematical chance of beating Wales, but they are a forlorn hope at 25-1 and are only 8-11 to see off Ireland at Twickenham.
TIGER Woods limped out of his latest tournament in Florida at the weekend with an Achilles injury and has been pushed out to 8-1 from 7-1 to win next month’s Masters at Augusta.
The amazing Rory McIlroy scored well despite being way below his best in the same event and is in to 9-2 to win at Augusta.
