The City kit boss and formerLatics star writes every week for Chron Sport THE destiny of the Barclays Premier League title is in Manchester City’s hands.

Victory over rivals United at the Etihad Stadium saw us return to the summit on goal difference with two games remaining — this weekend’s game at Newcastle United and the home clash with QPR on May 13.

I feel we deserved the win on Monday night. It was a fantastic team effort, and after a quiet first 15 minutes we enjoyed a lot of possession.

I am delighted for our captain, Vincent Kompany, who scored the winning goal. He has been immense throughout the season and it was fitting that he won a derby for us.

The lads were absolutely buzzing after the game as you would imagine, and I am sure they are determined to do everything they can to hold on to first place.

Hopefully the players will continue the good form they have shown in the last four fixtures and we travel to the North-East full of confidence.

I AM pleased that Roy Hodgson was appointed as the new England manager on a four-year contract.

Firstly, I think it was important to opt for an Englishman for the role. And though I don’t know him, Roy seems to be a very decent guy, with a good track record of coaching all over the place.

These players do not need extensive coaching because a lot of them are already world class. They just need someone who can organise and motivate them, and I am confident Roy can do those things.
