MOTORBIKE RACING:
ASHLEY Beech produced his best performance of the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship at Snetterton, claiming ninth place.
The Moorside racer, representing ILR Kawasaki, lined up on the fourth row of the grid and enjoyed a strong start, climbing from 15th to 13th.
By the halfway mark he was 12th, closing on nearest riders Josh Elliot, Joshua Day and Daniel Johnson.
Beech settled down for a few laps, awaiting the opportunity to pounce on his rivals, and he moved up to 11th place in the closing stages.
Lee Costello crashed out and Beech produced a determined final lap to clinch ninth position.
He said: “I got a good start in the race and got my head down. It went well and I am very happy to be in the top 10. I can’t wait to get back on the bike because it was perfect all weekend.”
