Silver for Lloyd
Date published: 04 June 2012
SWIMMING: SADDLEWORTH’S Jessica Lloyd took silver and only missed out on gold by 0.07 seconds in 100 metres freestyle in the Barcelona leg of the Mare Nostrum tour.
Representing Great Britain, the 17-year-old former Saddleworth School pupil impressed at the Sant Andreu Club, where she was pipped at the post by Canada’s Victoria Poon in 55.49.
But her second place finish helped take Great Britain’s medal total to 29 on the second and final day.
Lloyd is the youngest of the British swimmers to have qualified for London 2012.
