OLYMPIC WATER POLO:
ROYTON’S Joe O’Regan was in the British water polo team which lost 21-7 against a powerful Serbia team last night.
Team GB took the lead in the second quarter against the European champions and Beijing bronze medallists, but ran out of steam.
O’Regan tweeted: “The team played well but I had a shocker — have to sharpen up for Thursday.”
Great Britain’s opponents on that day are the USA (6.20pm).
Centre–forward Adam Scholefield (27), from Leeds, scored first for Britain, and said the team enjoyed pulling ahead, albeit briefly.
"We were really pleased to be winning," he said. "But they are a class outfit, and probably favourites for the tournament. Their class just showed in the end. They just ran away with it."
