OLYMPIC HOCKEY:
FORMER Hulme Grammar School student Nicola White scored the opening goal as Great Britain made it two wins from two pool matches with a 5-3 defeat of Korea.
After Korea equalised, Britain went 3-1 up.
The scores levelled before Britain pulled away again for a superb victory over a team regarded as favourites to win a medal.
White praised the support the players received. She said: “The crowd were absolutely brilliant.
“It was great to see all the support here. This was only our second game and it was louder and better than ever. All the cheering really spurred us on.”
