MEDAL PROSPECT: Nicola White (centre) in action
Olympic hockey:
FORMER Hulme Grammar School pupil Nicola White’s dreams of winning an Olympic medal remain intact despite Great Britain’s 2-1 hockey defeat to Holland yesterday.
Britain’s semi–final place had already been secured by Japan's 1-0 win over China.
Crista Cullen put GB ahead from a first–half penalty corner, but goals after the break from Naomi van As and Kitty van Male means the hosts must now face world champions and Beijing bronze medallists Argentina in the last four tomorrow night at 8pm.
Britain’s men can also book a place in the semi-finals if they avoid defeat against Spain tonight.
