WHILE Great Britain were making headlines in London, our swimmers were making a splash overseas.
Oldham’s Jessica Fullalove — Britain’s fastest 100 metres backstroke swimmer in her age group — excelled in the category in the US national Championships in Indianapolis.
The 16 year old finished sixth before helping her teammates to the same position in the 4x100m team relay. Both races won the team medals: the relay was an ‘A’ team final, and all participants received silverware.
Jess’s mum Suzanne said: “Jessica was very happy to finish sixth - not least because she is one of the youngest members of the team. Most of the other girls are aged 17-21, so to get this kind of experience under her belt is invaluable.”
