Rodwell raring to go
Date published: 17 August 2012
JACK Rodwell has set his sights on making a quickfire impression with Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini after moving from Everton to the Barclays Premier League champions.
Mancini, whose side host Southampton on Sunday, claimed Rodwell will have to improve his game to force his way into the side in the forseeable future.
Rodwell, part of the England squad which triumphed against Italy on Wednesday evening in Berne, recognises he may have to be patient.
He said: "It is a great opportunity for me, joining the league champions. It is a chance to win things. It will be an exciting place to go, playing with amazing players. I'm looking forward to working with all of them.”
DANNY Welbeck can’t wait to welcome Robin van Persie into the Manchester United fold.
United were expected to confirm Van Persie's signing today, which would enable the prolific Dutch striker to make his debut at Everton on Monday.
As a player who could see his first–team opportunities significantly reduced by the deal, Welbeck could be forgiven a sense of trepidation.
But the 21–year–old is as delighted as anyone. It's given the club a massive boost," said Welbeck.
"He's a world–class striker. Everyone is delighted to have him and I'm really looking forward to playing with him."
