CARLOS Tevez was once again the stand-out performer for Manchester City in our 3-1 victory over QPR.
The pint-sized striker has been inspirational since the word ‘go’ this term, thanks in no small part to a strict diet and his first full pre-season in years.
While we perhaps did not fire on all cylinders throughout the QPR game, I never thought we would come away with anything less than three points.
I have a few days off this week but even when I return it will be a quiet atmosphere at the training ground, with so many of our players overseas on international duty.
Our neighbours and title rivals Manchester United dug themselves out of trouble at Southampton, where they trailed 2-1 only to score twice in the final five minutes to win 3-2.
ROBIN van Persie notched a hat-trick and is a class act — despite the fact he unsuccessfully attempted to dink a penalty into the corner of the net, with goalkeeper Kelvin Davis palming it around the post.
I never, ever fancy left-footed penalty takers to score from the spot.
That said, we have all missed them in our time — I took a fair few over the years and I remember a couple of botched attempts for Huddersfield and in an Anglo-Scottish semi-final for Athletic against St Mirren!
I didn’t try to dink it past the goalkeeper back then though...
