Dzeko’s late intervention so crucial for City

EDIN Dzeko once again demonstrated just how talented a lad he is by scoring an 89th-minute winner in Manchester City’s 2-1 victory at Fulham.

The big targetman is up against quality strikers like Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli to start for us, but he keeps plugging away and had been on the pitch 40 seconds when he struck at Craven Cottage.

It was a result we deserved — we created a lot of chances in the second half — and the penalty the hosts won after 10 minutes should never have been awarded.

Crucially, the three points got us back on track after a short winless run.

Tottenham surprised everyone with their 3-2 win at United, which was further evidence in my opinion that no-one, including ourselves, has hit top gear yet except Chelsea.

The Barclays Premier League is wide open and just like last term, I can see the title race going to the wire.

Looking at the table now, I also believe Liverpool are in a false position. They finally clicked at the weekend, beating Norwich 5-2, and I think manager Brendan Rodgers has a bright future in the game.

I have been busy preparing our training kit ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad Stadium.

European competition rules prohibit teams from training in kits which display the name of their sponsors, so it is all change this week.

After losing to Real Madrid in the opening group fixture, tomorrow’s match already looks like a must-win contest for the Blues.

The margin for error in this competition is virtually non-existent. But if we come through this group, I would fancy us to beat anyone.
