DEAN Furman will miss Athletic's game at Sheffield United - despite a request for him to be excused from South Africa's friendly the night before.
Athletic had appealed for their captain to be excused from the Warsaw meeting with Poland on October 12, so he could play against Sheffield United the following day before returing to international duty in Kenya on October 16.
"They are indicating they want him to go, but we're not going to give up on that one," said Athletic manager Paul Dickov.
