FRANKIE Gavin called out Oldham’s Ronnie Heffron after both men won their respective bouts at York Hall last night.
Unbeaten welterweight Heffron (21) edged to a 77-76 points victory over Peter McDonagh in an eight-round clash.
The fight was on the undercard of Gavin’s successful welterweight title showdown with Junior Witter.
Angered by claims from Heffron’s trainer Anthony Farnell that his young charge would win any future bout, Gavin called for a deal to be struck.
Meanwhile, Farnell was unhappy the overall score was so close, saying: “Ronnie only lost one of the eight rounds, it was a terrible decision to be honest.”
Heffron is next in action on November 30, when he goes for Northern Area title glory at the Manchester Arena.
Farnell added: “The most important thing is, Ronnie came through last night unscathed. He avoided niggling injuries and can look forward to November 30.”
