OLYMPIC gold medal-winning cyclists Jason Kenny and Laura Trott have urged Oldhamers hoping to follow in their footsteps to pursue their dream.
The Team GB duo, who lit up London 2012 with four gold medals, spoke as they appeared at a local electronics store.
“Obviously cycling is a popular sport in Oldham, with lots of young people hoping to emulate what we achieved in the summer,” said Trott.
"My advice would be once you have joined your local club, stick at it. Be resilient and don’t be afraid of setbacks, because you get them throughout your career.
Kenny urged Oldham’s cycling enthusiasts to set their personal wheels in motion.
“I was 11 when I started cycling and Laura was eight. You have to give it everything from the word go, but you can only do that if you truly enjoy cycling.
“If all those ingredients are there, then there is no reason why young people from Oldham cannot be successful in the sport.”
