AS hard as it will be to qualify from the UEFA Champions League group stage, I believe Manchester City can beat Ajax tonight at the Etihad Stadium.

There is no getting away from the task. Even a win would take us to only four points, with Borussia Dortmund away and Real Madrid at home still to come.

But we have the skill and courage to see off the Dutch champions.

We go into this match on the back of a 0-0 draw at West Ham in the Barclays Premier League that saw us spurn three or four clear-cut opportunities.

Kevin Nolan’s disallowed effort was, in hindsight, onside. So we were both fortunate and unfortunate in the same game.

A clean sheet is a positive thing. When you miss chances, the next best thing is keep them out.

Upton Park is never an easy place to go, and West Ham are doing well.

We may look back on this as an important point gained rather than two dropped against Sam Allardyce’s well-drilled side.

I RECENTLY mentioned Carlos Tevez is the best player I have ever seen at City.
Well, the best guy I ever played alongside was Frank Worthington, in my Huddersfield days.

For a guy who did not have a lot of pace, he was unbelievable.

Frank’s touch was fantastic, he had a brilliant left foot, was great in the air and was always in the right place at the right time to sniff out a goal.

The best player I ever came up against was George Best.

It is a crying shame that in those days not every game was on television, because if they had been people would have seen some amazing footage.

I also wish George had appeared in a World Cup, because his talent deserved to be showcased on the biggest stage.

I played for Huddersfield in a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United — it was the last time George, Bobby Charlton and Dennis Law all scored in the same match.

Now there’s a claim to fame!
