RONNIE Heffron is counting down to a crack at the Commonwealth welterweight crown.

The Oldham fighter’s showdown against belt holder Denton Vassell is the headline act at the Manchester Arena on Friday, November 30.

One of the hottest properties in the country, Heffron (22) looking to improve his perfect record of 11 wins from 11 bouts, which includes five by knock-out.

This is by far his strongest opponent, but trainer Anthony Farnell is sure his man is up to it.

Farnell said: “It’s going to be difficult as Denton is a come-forward boxer in the mould of Mike Tyson.

“But I’m confident Ronnie will go out there and win.

“It is the first time he has topped the bill, but he’s such a laid-back character that won’t bother him. He is buzzing.”
