NETBALL:
MANCHESTER Thunder have looked Down Under to add further strength to their Fiat Netball Superleague squad.
The reigning champions have signed defender Sam Holt, who has been tempted away from Superleague rivals Team Northumbria.
The 25 year old, a science and maths teacher from Portland, Australia, will join Thunder’s other signing from Australia, shooter Janelle Lawson, in the new line-up.
After spending last term with Team Northumbria, Holt had planned to travel Europe before returning home. But Thunder’s director of netball, Tracey Neville, moved quickly to persuade her she had a future with Thunder.
A self-confessed travel addict and fitness freak, Holt trains at least six days a week and is looking forward to the start of the new season in February.
She said: “Thunder are a top-class netball team and I was delighted Tracey asked me to join the squad.”
