Success worth the sacrifice, says Evra

Patrice Evra is happy to forego Christmas festivities in the hunt for more silverware at Manchester United.

It is seven years since Evra left Monaco for Old Trafford and the move has been worthwhile - since Evra has pocketed four Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy during his stay.

He is well placed to land another championship gong this season, too, given United are now seven points clear before tomorrow's game at West Brom.

Despite a glut of fixtures when most of his European counterparts are putting their feet up, Evra isn’t complaining.

"People ask me what I am going to do at Christmas,” said the 31-year-old player. “I ask them if they are serious? I’ve been here for seven years and I’m used to not celebrating Christmas and New Year and going to the hotel instead. It is normal."

Wednesday's goalscoring appearance against Newcastle was Evra's 313th for United, but Ferguson might rest him against West Brom.

West Brom haven’t won at Old Trafford since 1978.

FERGUSON will not face punishment for confronting referee Mike Dean at Old Trafford on Boxing Day, the Football Association has confirmed. The Scot was furious after Dean overruled assistant Jake Collin and awarded Newcastle's second goal in the Red Devils' 4–3 win.
