SINFIELD: gets the boot - in the nicest possible way
RUGBY:
OLDHAMER Kevin Sinfield has a double cause for celebration.
The Leeds and England captain became only the fourth Englishman to win the prestigious Golden Boot.
And the record-breaking goal-kicker also landed the “League Express” readers’ poll player of the year award for 2012.
The former Waterhead ARLFC junior received 41 per cent of the votes in the competition.
In picking up the Golden Boot, the 32 year old was honoured for skippering Rhinos to a sixth Super League title in nine years, and for celebrating his appointment as captain by leading England to victory in the 2012 autumn international series.
The other Englishmen to pick up the prize were Ellery Hanley (1988), Garry Schofield (1990) and Andy Farrell (2004).
