It’s fingers crossed for a cup shock

The City kit boss and former Latics star writes every week for Chron Sport

LATICS’ game against Liverpool in the FA Cup, fourth-round is a sell-out on Sunday, which should make for a great atmosphere at Boundary Park.

Playing in front of a full house always lifts you as a player and this weekend ought to be no exception.

It is going to be tough for Latics, no doubt, as it appears Liverpool have turned the corner.

Liverpool have a decent side and a good manager in Brendan Rodgers.

They have also made a good signing in Daniel Sturridge, who knows where the goal is.

I was speaking to Scott Sinclair, who was with Rodgers at Swansea. I told him how much I rated Rodgers as a manager and could see Liverpool getting in the top four — though perhaps not this season.

The ideal scenario is for Latics to win on Sunday — but failing that a draw would be a cracking result, generating more income from a replay. I’ll be watching.

MANCHESTER City are also in FA Cup action this weekend, at Stoke.

Stoke work hard for each other, are quite a physical side and the home crowd creates a hostile atmosphere.

But we are confident going into every game.

It was pretty comfortable for us on Saturday in the 2-0 win against Fulham, although we could have scored a few more goals.

David Silva, who got both, is a phenomenal player and a pleasure to watch.

His touch, his football brain and his will to win — just everything about him. He is also a lovely lad as well.

We’re going well and I’ve every confidence that we’ll retain the title.
