Superleague phase two fixtures are out and selling like hotcakes across the country, though Manchester Thunder, the defending champions, find themselves in the Challenger League - much to everyone’s surprise.
They won’t be joining Surrey Storm, Team Bath, Hertfordshire Mavericks and Celtic Dragons who make up the Showdown League; they could make the play-offs if they manage to top Challenger.
Record crowds have flocked to the Manchester Thunderdome to watch their matches - including the late defeat by one to the Mavericks in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
A passionate loyal crowd almost cheered Thunder to victory that night in one of the most pulsating matches seen in the Netball Superleague.
Hopefully the crowd will be Thunder’s eighth player in the Challenger League when they kick off Phase Two with a home match against Roses rivals Yorkshire Jets this Saturday.
It’s anyone’s game in the derby as it’s Thunder and Jets who are likely to be vying for the top spot, it is one not to miss.
Fans won’t have long to wait for their second dose of Superleague when Loughborough Lightning are the visitors to the Thunderdome on Saturday week, April 20.
