AN excellent team effort secured safe passage to the FA Cup final as Manchester City got the better of Chelsea 2-1 in the last-four clash at Wembley.
Goals from Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero sealed a May 11 showdown with our North-West neighbours Wigan Athletic – and a chance to regain the trophy we lifted two years ago.
We were by far the better side in the first half and deserved to be in front. Sergio's header after the break was sublime, especially for a relatively-short man.
For any young, aspiring footballers watching the game, Sergio's technique with the run he made into the box and the angled header was a joy to behold and an example to follow.
It has been a stop-start season for the pint-sized forward after several injuries, but we are seeing his true class at the moment.
Demba Ba is deadly in and around the penalty area and his strike made for a tough finale to the contest.
But our players dug in deep and got the job done. It is always a great feeling to reach the final of this famous old competition.
We have been in brilliant form recently and if we show the same level of application and quality in possession in the coming weeks, we should enjoy a strong finish to the campaign.
Strangely, the fixture list has thrown up a dress rehearsal for the cup final this week – we entertain Wigan tonight in the Premier League.
It is never an easy game against Roberto Martinez's side.
They traditionally end the season with their tails up and are fighting for their lives in the relegation scrap.
