The best team won

The City kit boss and former Latics star on Saturday’s cup final
IT was so terribly disappointing for Manchester City to lose 1-0 to Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup final.
I felt particularly sorry for the 40,000 Blues who made their way down to London for the Wembley showpiece.
It is fair to say we just weren't at the races and the best team won. We struggled to create clear-cut chances and Callum McManaman had an excellent game down the right flank for Wigan.
As I have said before, I’ve met their manager Roberto Martinez a couple of times and he is a top bloke - as is Graham Barrow, one of their first-team coaches.
They are both excellent, hard-working professionals and if we had to lose to anyone, at least the silverware ended up in their hands.
I think a lot of people would like to see Wigan avoid relegation because they play good, honest football.
I wish them all their best in their bid to beat the drop.
It is always a tough one to swallow when you make it all the way to the final and fall at the last hurdle - but that is what happened, and we have to deal with the disappointment.
There are two matches remaining and it is our responsibility to give our all, not least for those loyal fans who travel the length of the country to show their support.
They were all desperate to see us lift a cup, especially after seeing the title move back to United.
The players will want to get a good couple of results in the coming days, starting with Reading, and respond better than ever next season.
