Mystery surrounds Rooney future

MANCHESTER United declared they had "got their trophy back" at the end of the Premier League title–winning parade – but there was no word on whether Wayne Rooney will still be around for the start of their defence.
Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Rooney submitted a transfer request, though confirmed it had been turned down.
Rooney received a mixed reception when he boarded the open–top bus at Old Trafford for the start of the parade, though played an active part as it made its slow way along the route into Manchester centre, where huge numbers of United fans turned out.
Speaking to MUTV, Rooney did not directly answer a question about what the retiring Ferguson had done for him, and was not asked whether he would be staying.
GREATER Manchester Police has thanked United fans after last night’s victory parade passed mostly trouble free.
An estimated 100,000 supporters lined the streets of Trafford and the city centre - with around 12,000 in Albert Square - to cheer on the club’s title-winning success and to say farewell to Sir Alex Ferguson.
