Sinfield backed to go beyond World Cup

RUGBY:
KEVIN Sinfield has his heart set on leading England to World Cup glory this year, but head coach Steve McNamara believes his captain has another global gathering left in him.
At 32 and having won virtually everything possible at club level, the World Cup this year should be the perfect swansong for the former Waterhead prospect.
The England team for the tournament which gets under way later this year is one full of youth.
Players like Sam Tomkins, the Burgess brothers and Ryan Hall have more than one World Cup cycle in them, but captain Sinfield is the old head and the heart of the side. McNamara sees no reason why the Oldhamer cannot continue to lead his side beyond November.
Said mcNamara: “To have Kevin as captain at this moment in time is great because, although he will have to play outstanding to make the team, he is an outstanding person and an outstanding captain for our group.”
