David Moyes had no hesitation in rubber–stamping Rio Ferdinand's one–year contract extension -because he believes the Manchester United defender has just had one of his best-ever seasons.
Sir Alex Ferguson said the same thing a month ago, sure Ferdinand would commit himself to Old Trafford again.
"It is clear that Rio has had one of his best seasons with the club," said Moyes. "Even from the outside you can see what a big character Rio is around the dressing room.
"I am delighted he has signed a new contract; I am looking forward to working with him."
Ferdinand said: "Who wouldn't want to play in this fantastic team in front of 75,000 fans every week? “This is a great team to be part of and we are now moving into a new era, which is very exciting.”
