Roo’s future in the balance

MANCHESTER United were maintaining a dignified silence on Wayne Rooney today amid claims the striker wants to leave Old Trafford.
Rooney is said to be furious at manager David Moyes, who last week in an interview appeared to suggest he regarded the 27 year old as back–up to last season’s top scorer Robin van Persie.
Moyes is unhappy that his comments were supposedly taken out of context.
They have nonetheless gone down incredibly badly with the superstar player, whom sources say is “angry and confused” about his treatment.
As far as Rooney is concerned, he’s at the peak of his career and won’t play second fiddle to anyone — or be reduced to the rank of a squad player.
He feels he has been put on trial by Moyes when he should be concentrating his efforts on recovering from the hamstring injury that saw him sent home from United's pre–season tour.
After months of speculation about his future and no statement of intent to stay from the player, it seems clear that without major repair work, Rooney will be leaving.
